Rainy Day Resolve

A rainy morning…I’m off work…the squirrels are fed…the tea is on...and while I have a full day of productivity scheduled, I just need a short moment to be still and reflect while waiting for pain reliever to kick in.  Thought about making this another private journal entry, but then figured an art life update might do the blog game some good. Yay for public therapy.  The journal itself is already riddled with entries on existential struggles regarding purpose, life decisions, mental health, the fleeting nature of life, and what my Creator might allow me to contribute to this world before I leave it. I promise I’ll forego those details, for now, but suffice it to say of all the soul-searching, life studies, and re-inventing of myself I’ve done over the past several years, two things have remained the same…and strengthened:  my relationship with God and my passion for creation in the broadest sense. The paths I’m supposed to take and doors that might open or close remain blurred, but I c

Breach of Shadow

It's hard to believe. Finally...steps are being taken to let this ambition take flight. Very, very subtly - but it's free nonetheless. Breach of Shadow is the title of my latest digital illustration and holds multiple layers of meaning both in real life and in the image's story. A few may recognize the character. I have been drawing that burgundy-haired girl sporadically over the past 15 years, posting only some of pieces of her online. For those who'd rather not do the math...that's just over half my life at this point. She went by the placeholder name, Suki Tsubaki, but I never explained who she was or where she came from. 2004 2006 ... oh look, I spelled my name wrong :] 2006 2007 2007 2011 2017 2018 2018 I'm missing some sketches here and there as she's acted as a stress relief doodle on multiple occasions. And there are several sketches of mini comic pages somewhere in my heaps of art storag

Caught in the Crossfire

The conviction that I should share this isn’t making the act any easier. This kind of public honesty comes at no small price. However, with the chance to make a positive difference in someone’s life (especially around the holidays), and the reminder that tomorrow is not guaranteed, I’ve made my decision. Actually, I made it over a week ago and then lost my nerve. LOL The amount of divine intervention it took to steer me back on track was not subtle. We’ll leave it at that. I’ve taken extended leave from my job for more than simply spending Christmas with family; although, that’s a huge deal for me, and I treasure my time with them. I’ve been trying to write a story over the past 14 years and flesh out concept artwork that has gone largely undone due to the lack of time to immerse myself in the process like I feel I need to. This book happens to be the one thing I crave to complete before meeting my Maker. Why? Despite its fantastical façade, the story will embody the intricacies

London Comic Con -by Sarah

My gosh...I've been so remiss to blog about all kinds of adventures over the last couple years. Life has truly been insane and incredible. I moved to England, for one! A temporary, yet amazing learning experience. For now, I'll just share a blog entry written by one of my awesome British friends! We went to Comic Con in London together, and it was the biggest convention I've been to yet. This was her first, and her analysis of the experience is just wonderful. Give it a read: 5 Things I Learned at Comic Con ~Uni

The Legend of Zelda: A Light in the Darkness

art by UniqScheick12 "The flow of time is always cruel... Its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it... A thing that doesn't change with time is a memory of younger days..." ~Sheik, LoZ:OoT This massive post brought to you by the inner musings of a gal who was just gifted with an awesome gold Triforce pendant and is nostalgically listening to her LoZ playlist ~ My brother had it personally made overseas without knowing it's something I've always wanted. I've illustrated myself with something of the sort for many years, and even made one out of clay a few years back - but a clay pendant wasn't exactly the kind of piece I'd had in mind. Needless to say, I flipped. lol It makes me really happy~ Why is that, though? I've often wondered what outsiders think of this simple symbol when they see it. Sierpinski triangle? :p It's amazing how much more meaning it holds for me (and other avid Zeld

Facts and Opinions

My first blog post of the year, and it has to be spurred by sudden, acute irritation, bypassing all the other subjects that've been on my blog to-do list for years. This is nuts. I found myself at the Kansas City Comic Con yesterday with my cousin looking for a decent art print of Wonder Woman as I'd like a classic comic-style piece of her for my wall. As I was looking, I came across a rather large art booth with 3 colored prints of her which, while not my ideal picks, were not bad at all. It was then I looked up and saw who I figured was the artist working on a piece off in the corner of the booth, minding his own business with no one else around him. My curiosity as an artist sparked, and I slowly made my way over to him (I'm still a slightly shy person deep down). I read the giant comic art-plastered sign behind him which said NEAL ADAMS at the top. I figured that was him. The only western comic artist I really know the name of is Terry Dodson ...a prominent DC ar

Hyrule Warriors Review~!

...'Cause Zelda stuff makes me shirk personal projects and blog entries. D: BUT DUDES...game is awesome. WARNING! This entry contains spoilers for the following games: -Hyrule Warriors -Screenshots in this entry were taken by me and other players on Miiverse- I can't recall when I first heard about this game...it was either by Nintendo Direct or E3...I don't know, but it doesn't matter. I'd been waiting for it for a long time. It finally released in North America this past Friday (September 26), and, having pre-ordered it, I picked it up after work. Played for a few hours Friday, 8 hours Saturday, and another few hours today before beating it.  I have so much to say, I'm not sure where to start. lol This game made me really happy. It's not a Legend of Zelda game, it's a Dynasty Warriors game with Zelda characters and storyline. We can't legitimately include it in with Zelda's franchise and timeline, it wasn't meant
